Here’s a list of updates on PingMyCompany.com

Tag Clouds:

Two different clouds have been added at the top, just above the companies’ listing. These clouds have same functions on differnt basis, i.e. the one if left makes the most pinged companies prominent while the one in right exposes the busiest categories. The more a company is pinged, the more bold it’ll be shown in the cloud and same for categories.

Company Categories:

The feature has been added while keeping the enhanced search and navigation in mind, i.e. now users can search specific companies under a particular industry, and to make it easy a list of companies is given in a drop down menu, just submit the company in most relevant category.

Improved Navigation:

Keeping the user friendliness in mind, PingMycompany.com now helps user to find exactly what they need. For instance you’ve mistyped the URL, i.e. www.pingmycompany.com/net while you’re looking for Netsol. Now PMC will index all pages with ‘net’ for you.

Improved Search:

Search function at PingMyCompany.com has also been improved. First it used to search the keyword in companies’ names, now it covers the whole content, i.e. if one searches “Zigron”, he’ll find all the pages in index where “Zigron” appears.

Share With a Friend:

And, above all, now you can share any company’s page with your friends via Email. Just enter the email of your friends and we’ll let them know what you want to tell them.

I thought it will be a good time to share exactly whats our policy regarding “inappropriate” pings.

I have been getting few pings as “inappropriate” but to be honest I didnt find anything wrong with them. Our main goal is to make sure that we delete only those pings which contain very abusive language or content.

At times few pings are marked “inappropriate” because someone didnt seem to agree with them. Sometimes pings are marked because they are against a firm’s management team or boss. In such cases we dont feel that they should be deleted. These are people’s opinion and they should be heard.

At this moment there is not standard policy for us to evaluate these pings but we try our level best to make sure pings are fair and appropriate enough so that everyone can read them.

I will really appreciate if you can comment on how we should evaluate “inappropriate” pings.
