A great company to work for. It's like a family there; everyone cares for each other and the work they do. There are some very talented people there, and they employ almost all of the software best practices. Junior developers are mentored well by more senior developers and ramp up quickly as a result.

The best office culture I have worked in. There are no timesheets, working is based on how much real work you put in, not whether or not you just finished your hours. If you accomplish a lot in a short amount of time, you can work less hours. If you are taking longer to get a task done, then you work more hours. Everyone enjoys hanging out with each other, and will mix social life with work life, inviting each other out socially on weekends. Though people often say this is a bad idea, the comradery at Overture actually helps in the office place; People are more willing to help another coworker who's stuck or overwhelmed, they feel more responsible for their work, and they don't want to let each other down. I can not emphasize enough how great the office culture at Overture is.

It isn't about how many years of experience you have, but how much you have put into the company, so you get promoted when you deserve to, even if you are young. There are yearly code reviews with a group of senior developers, and you get a new book to read on good coding practices after each code review. Senior developers mentor junior ones; they teach them good practices and allow them to start getting small responsibilities from the next level up to get experience and climb the ladder one rung at a time.

A wonderful company to work for that is located in Bethesda. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed for the most part but don't think this means we don't work hard. The best part about the company are the people. There is a good mix of senior and junior/mid level developer with a larger base of senior developers. Most of the senior developers have 15+ years experience and really understand the technologies they employ. They often mentor and help you grow within the company and because it is a smaller company your opportunity to advance is great. You learn a LOT working with the individuals at the company. Best of all you will easily learn 3 times more information with them then at a larger company. Did I mention the people are GREAT?!
