Hmm What i say I don't know much about IBM. But I respect IBM because according to my knowledge IBM introduced the first PC. But i don't like the design(shakal) of IBM laptops I don't know why they don't make good design. I want to buy a IBM laptop but I didn't just because of the design and I bought a HP just because of the design. Well whatever IBM is best 'cause it's reliable.

This is the worst company I worked ever, I got selected by IBM through campus requirment process in 2007 at that time I alrady had a good offer with one of the renowned IT company but I selected IBM becouse of the brand Initially every thing was fine but just after working 8 months they satrted firing freshers and from India they fired at least 1200 ELTP's I was one of them. You must be thinking that I might not have performed well but it is not true I got rating 2+ and much appraisal mail from the client this firing was based on one exam whose score was never out. It is such a stupid company which have ruined career of many engineers

Having worked in IBM for 2 years, I am pinging against it. The senior management is old and doesn't understand the dynamics of the market anymore. You are big but so is HP, MS and Oracle :). Processes are very good but the people driving them are stupid, they would shove a process in ur face for everything. More than work you are driving processes. Purely a Sales oriented company, still as the box selling mentality, the company is not geared up for delivery. In my 2 years I out performed, overachieved and surpassed expectation, PBC 1 all the way. Summit Award etc etc but no promotion and they slashed the compensation plan...that brand is good if you can afford to pay from your own pocket to work there :)

You need to look at IBM as a stepping stone job to another company. Or when in it you need to aggressively contact Executives in divisions you would like to work with form a positive connection. Unless you are hired into the IGS consulting or Business consulting , you are merely support people to IBM.

Thy treat there employees like a sweat shop. They have been laying off every year when profit is up. Management talks down to the employees. IBM is looking at short team achievements with clients. They do not care about long term goals.

I worked 20 years for IBM and I'm now Contractor for them cutting my salary by 20% with W2 conditions. We as old IBMers are waiting the IBM decline to sanction S. Palmisano CEO. He is working for the stock price and is the most unrespectful CEO of IBM employees. Moral is very low and each year, IBMers are living with the fear to be laid out. When IBMers are no more than trash, then IBM as company is also in this can. IBM was great because IBMers were great for the Cie. Shame on Sam P. to ruin IBM future.
